Broadcaster
Colin Kelly is one of Scotland's best known broadcasters. For 4 years he was host of Clyde 1's hugely popular mid morning show, entertaining well over a quarter of a million listeners every week with a fast moving blend of music and engaging speech. Listener interaction was at the heart of the programme and led to market leading audience figures.
In 2009, Colin developed a television career joining STV's evening programme "The Hour" as gadget and technology expert. This proved extremely popular and Colin's slot remained for the programme's entire 2 year run. He also co-presented "The Hour" for several week long stints.
Colin joined BBC Radio Scotland to devise and launch the early morning news programme "Morning Briefing" in April 2011. This 30 minute programme was aimed at an audience "on the go" first thing in the morning who needed to know what was going on - but without any waffle. Colin's engaging, plain speaking style proved a hit and he was soon asked to fill in as host of the morning phone in programme "Call Kaye".
Here, Colin was able to combine his journalistic skills with his ability to connect with the audience, encouraging them to phone in and tell their stories.
Earlier in his career he served as Deputy News Editor at Real Radio and was Senior Reporter at Scot FM responsible for the infamous "Bastardgate" tape where Scotland's First Minister at the time Henry McLeish was recorded criticising some of his colleagues.
Although he's now concentrating on growing a business and helping others use the media to raise their profile, Colin Kelly is no way hanging up his microphone.
"I'm getting a huge buzz right now from seeing the media from the OTHER side, and helping clients use it to raise their profile", he says. "But I have a broadcast quality home studio, I interact with people every day through social media and I have some interesting ideas flying around. When I'm ready to put something out there I will."
